Tattoo Removal

Border Laser Free Tattoo Removal with Linda Foy of Avant Aesthetics Clinic in Glasgow BorderTattoo Removal

What is a Tattoo?

Tattoos are created by implanting thousands of tiny ink particles into the skin.  After a tattoo is applied some of the pigment which is too big or not fully implanted will be pushed to the surface of the skin and ejected. Particles which are too small will be disposed of by the body’s immune system.  The remainder will stay in the skin indefinitely.

Laser Free Tattoo Removal?

Avant Aesthetics use the unique E-raze Rejuvi tattoo removal system of ink extraction which is designed to remove the tattoo’s ink pigments from your body. The treatment has been in use worldwide for over eight years.

The treatment uses similar methods to that of having a tattoo.  The removal formula is applied directly into the skin and is specifically designed to blend with and capture the original tattoo ink.  A thicker substance then forms and this is pushed out by the skin taking the tattoo ink with it.  It is normal to require a number of treatments to completely remove a tattoo.  After the course is finished the skin should return to it’s natural state over a few months.

Laser tattoo removal

Laser tattoo removal has been in use commercially since the late 1980’s with Glasgow being heavily involved in research and development since the early 1980’s.

Laser tattoo removal treatment targets the tattoo pigment using a process called ‘the photomechanical effect’ to break the particles down into smaller pieces.  The broken down particles are processed by the immune system and removed by natural bodily processes.

Laser tattoo removal aftercare instructions

In order to achieve the best results from your treatment, these aftercare instructions MUST be followed

What should I expect?

Laser tattoo removal can cause a superficial burn on the treated area, with possible bruising and swelling followed by blistering and scabbing which should clear within 2 weeks

In some cases, hypertrophic and even keloid scarring can occur but this is rare. A change in skin pigment tone in the treated area is more common but should become less noticeable with time.

  • If the skin is unbroken after treatment cover with dry sterile gauze and bandage to protect the area.
  • If the skin is broken apply a thin layer of antiseptic ointment to avoid infection and cover with sterile gauze and bandage.
  • Blistering is common after laser tattoo removal and is an important part of the healing process. This is an indication that your immune system is reacting to the treatment in a positive way and removing the ink molecules from your skin. Protect the area and continue to apply antiseptic ointment for 24hrs after blisters have popped.
  • Crusts or scabs will form which should not be picked, the area will be pink or pale after scabs have gone
  • During healing it is normal to experience itching, mild soothing products like aloe vera or arnica gel may be used to relieve itching
  • Avoid direct heat on the treated area for 8 weeks minimum (direct sun, sun bed, sauna, hot bath)
  • If going out in sun use SPF30+
  • Avoid perfumed products (body lotion, soap, perfume)
  • Leave 2 hours after treatment before showering, use mild, unperfumed soap and pat dry
  • Avoid tight clothing and any situation which could cause friction to the area
